Clean Energy Roadmap Regional Consultation - Renewable Energy Precincts (Muswellbrook) - 11/10/10

The Climate Institute has received a research grant from the NSW Government to assess and quantify the state-wide and regional employment opportunities associated with the expansion of renewable energy generation.

The main output from this project will be six ‘roadmaps’ – one for each of the six Renewable Energy Precincts established earlier this year in NSW (see attachments).

These roadmaps will aim to provide a high level regional plan for clean energy development, with a particular focus on maximising the employment opportunities.

Ernst and Young have been appointed to conduct stakeholder consultation to inform the development of the regional roadmaps.

The aim of the stakeholder consultation is to:

  • Better understand the employment potential in each of the renewable energy precincts given the region's strengths and weaknesses
  • To explore ways that each region can maximise their employment potential through skilling and re-skilling the existing population and attracting skilled employees into the region
  • To touch on broader drivers and barriers that drive the renewables industries themselves (and therefore employment)
